Ricardo Lozano

Geologist and Journalist. Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia since August 2018, International Expert on Climate Change and Sustainable Development, Geologist, specialized in media and journalism, with nearly 19 years of experience in institutions of the public and private sectors as well as non-governmental organizations, whose work has helped shape his country’s environmental policy and institutions, by means of raising the public awareness on environmental issues in the public awareness and in the political agenda, by taking part in policy formulation and by helping acquire funds from both the national government and international cooperation. Having wide and deep knowledge in Social and Environmental Responsibility, currently serves as CEO of PEOPLE AND EARTH, company that develops environmental, economic and social sustainability strategies, and is professor of Climate Change Management in the Master’s Degrees “Regulations for Natural Resources” and “Sustainable and Smart Cities” in the Universidad Externado de Colombia, and in the Master’s Degree “Land Environmental Planning” in the Los Andes University.

Lozano’s leadership and communicational skills have helped position the entities where he has worked as a necessary reference in the national level, and Colombia as an international leader in environmental and climate change issues. Lozano has become a regular guest and collaborator of several TV and radio shows, magazines and newspapers as one of the country’s leading authorities in the environment, risk management and climate change.
