Orondaam Otto

Founder and Executive Director, Slum2School Africa

Orondaam Otto is a global education advocate, policy leader, and visionary social entrepreneur dedicated to unlocking the potential of Africa’s next generation through equitable access to quality education.

With nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of education, youth development, innovation, and public policy, he has mobilized governments, global institutions, corporations, and communities to co-create inclusive, systemic solutions to Africa’s education crisis.

He is the Founder of Slum2School Africa, one of the continent’s leading volunteer-driven organizations, which has directly supported over 685,450 children across 510 underserved communities. Since founding the organization in 2012, he has led the development of early childhood centers, STEM and digital innovation labs, enterprise hubs, and local academies. His work also spans educational scholarships, psychosocial support, teacher training, youth development, and school transformation initiatives.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he launched Africa’s first Virtual Learning Studio, a groundbreaking ed-tech innovation that bridged the learning divide for thousands of children in remote communities. In 2024, he introduced the Slum2School Academy, a scalable early learning model for children in communities without access to formal education.

Orondaam’s leadership extends into policy and reform. He has worked with UNESCO, UNICEF, the United Nations Global Compact, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, etc., to advance education reform in Nigeria. His work has been featured by CNN, BBC, Forbes, Reuters, and other global platforms.

He founded Inked Memory in 2024, a storytelling tech company that preserves legacies through journals, memoirs, and immersive experiences, thereby safeguarding Africa's history.

He is an Eisenhower Global Fellow, a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and a recipient of the Harvard Kennedy School Lucius N. Littauer Fellowship, Erik Yankah Award, and the Edward Mason Fellowship.

Orondaam earned his Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School of Government and holds other degrees and certificates from MIT, United Nations University for Peace, Henley Business School, Stellenbosch Business School, University of Port Harcourt, etc. He serves on several boards, including the Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Board and Black Alumni Association.
