Meaghan McGrath

Global Head, Syndications, International Finance Corporation

A former Chief Counsel in the International Finance Corporation's Legal Department, was appointed Global Head of Syndications in the Syndicated Loans and Mobilization Department of IFC, based within the IFC Treasury Vice Presidency in 2019.

An award-winning lawyer, she was previously head of the Debt Mobilization Group within the legal group, which encompasses all aspects of the Corporation's legal work for debt and credit mobilization program. She established IFC's legal work for the innovative Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program (MCPP) with the People's Bank of China in 2013 and has led the multiple teams involved in the creation of the MCPP Infrastructure initiatives, which together, resulted in over USD7 billion in third-party financing to the development agenda over the last six years.

During her tenure at IFC, Meaghan has been actively involved in structuring, negotiating, and documenting debt and equity investments in projects in over 30 countries and has built upon her expertise in infrastructure projects as well as debt mobilization.

Meaghan graduated cum laude from Columbia College of Columbia University in 1989 with a B.A. in Political Science where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University in 1992 with honors.

Prior to joining IFC, Meaghan practiced with the firm of Chadbourne & Parke, in New Delhi, New York and Washington DC representing project developers, multilateral agencies and commercial lenders in connection with international project financings. Having spent two years in India, implementing and expanding a foreign office and representing independent developers in energy projects, Meaghan McGrath became the first US-trained, female lawyer to live and practice in the region.
