Born in 1986, Maximilian Stern is Managing Director of the Swiss foreign policy think-tank “foraus – Forum Aussenpolitik”. In 2011/12 he was an Associate of the Berlin-based interdisciplinary think-tank „Stiftung Neue Verantwortung“ and its research team on collaborative democracy. He is a passionate think-tanker and dedicated to the idea of advancing politics through research, technology and innovative, practical recommendations.

Maximilian gathered his profound knowledge of Swiss, European and international politics during his studies in political science at the Universities of Zurich and Munich as well as at the European Council on Foreign Relations’ Berlin office. Furthermore, alongside his studies, he worked as an assistant to Prof. Dr. Katharina Michaelowa at the chair for political economy of developing countries and emerging markets.
