Matthew Klein

Founder, The Overshoot

I am the founder and principal of The Overshoot, a subscription research service focused on the intersection of economics, financial markets, and public policy. My work is read around the world by central bankers, asset managers, government officials, and academics. My research has been cited in the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Economist. I am also the co-author, with Michael Pettis, of Trade Wars Are Class Wars: How Rising Inequality Distorts the Global Economy and Threatens International Peace, which won the Lionel Gelber Prize and was long-listed for the FT/McKinsey business book of the year.

Before starting The Overshoot, I was the Economics Commentator at Barron's, and was previously at the Financial Times. My writings have also appeared in the New York Times, Politico, Foreign Policy, Bloomberg View, and The Economist. I started my career at Bridgewater Associates after graduating with a history degree from Yale.
