National and world champion cyclist and two-time Olympian. Won the Iron Kids Triathalon at 13 and became a professional triathlete at 16. During senior year, qualified to train with the US Olypmpic developmental team in Colorado Springs. 1989, qualified for junior world championships in Moscow; 1991, US National Amateur Champion; 1992, came 14th in Olympic games, Barcelona. 1993, won ten titles including: 1993, World Champion; US PRO Champion; and a stage victory in the Tour de France. 1993, won the Thrift Drug Triple Crown. 1995: won Tour Du Pont; named Velo News American Male Cyclist of the Year; stage 18 win, Tour de France; first American to win the Classico San Sebastian; established the Armstrong Junior Olympic Race Series. 1996, ranked number one cyclist in the world; first American to win Fleche Wallone in Belgium. After battling with cancer, became a spokesperson for testicular and other forms of cancer. Winner of the 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 Tour de France.
