John Roberts is the Co-Founder and CEO of InvestED. InvestED creates educational content, delivered through an Android app. The content focuses on financial inclusion, savings and entrepreneurship. Other SDG oriented subjects are woven into the dramatic storyline, making the content both engaging and impactful. InvestED partners with banks to leverage the apps' unique data sets and predictive analytics to qualify users for opportunity, such as a microfinance loan. Operating in Kenya, Ghana and Sierra Leone, InvestED was named a Regional Winner for EdTech Startup of the Year in 2016, was a finalist for the Most Scalable category in the 2017 UN ITU Global SME Awards, and was named a First Round Winner in the 2017 Sierra Leone FinTech Challenge. InvestED's content has been shown to be predictive of up to 25% higher repayment rates on digital unsecured loans. 55% of users report either an increase in earning or savings. John also co-founded the Impact Hub in Accra Ghana - one of Africa's most active entrepreneurial hubs. He was also a key member of the team that conducted the research that led to the establishment of the Center for African Business, Law, and Entrepreneurship at the University of California, Irvine.
