Oversees a portfolio of physical and life sciences journals in the Nature Partner Journal programme from Nature Research; selective peer reviewed open access journals that are run in partnership with high-profile global partners. Previously, Senior Editor at Nature Materials and Nature Communications, selecting scientific papers for publication, and writing and commissioning discussion pieces. Has been with Nature Research for 6 years. Background in materials science and engineering with MEng and PhD degrees from University of Sheffield; was a researcher and lecturer at Imperial College London. Research focused on the development of new materials for aerospace and biomedical applications. Has worked with industrial partners such as Rolls Royce, Boeing and Tata Steel. As well as facilitating the open communication of scientific research to a global audience, has a keen interest in the transfer of scientific research from lab to industry. Has been based in Springer Nature’s Shanghai office since 2015.
