Ichiro Hara is Director of International Affairs Bureau at Keidanren (Japan Business Federation). In this role, he is responsible for the relationships with North America, Europe, Oceania, Russia and Turkey. His responsibilities also include trade and investment policy and the OECD/BIAC affairs. He has also been deeply involved in the B7/20 (business counterpart to G7/20), currently serving as Secretary General for B20 Tokyo Summit. During more than three decades of experience with Keidanren, he was involved in administrative and industrial affairs as well. Under the Koizumi administration, he was seconded to the Cabinet Office to work for regulatory reform council. Before assuming the present office in January 2016, he had spent about ten years mostly in dealing with European affairs. He joined Keidanren in 1986 just after graduating from Sophia University.
