1980, Bachelor's, Physics, Cairo Univ.; 1983, Master's, Liberal Arts, St. John's College, New Mexico; 1988, Master's, Economics, American Univ. in Cairo. 1980-82, teacher, Cairo Univ. 1982, Teaching Assistant, Physics Dept, American Univ. in Cairo; 1983, Teaching Assistant, Lehigh Univ., Pennsylvania. 1985, joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt; 1988-92, Egyptian Embassy, Canada; 1995-99, Egyptian Mission, Geneva, focussing on economic and trade issues in the UN and WTO; 1992-95 and 1999-2001, Member of the Cabinet of the Egyptian Minister for Foreign Affairs. 2001, joined the Arab League as Official Spokesman; 2003, Chief of Staff to the Secretary-General. 2011, took a leave of absence from the Arab League and was the Campaign Manager, Amre Moussa's presidential campaign; 2012, returned to the Arab League as Senior Adviser to the Secretary-General on issues pertaining to crisis management as well as the reform of the Arab League. 2014, joined the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs.
