Fernando Grostein Andrade is a Brazilian filmmaker, composer, music producer, and entrepreneur based in Los Angeles. He is the founder of Cosmic Dog Studios, a film, music, and artificial intelligence studio with offices in Los Angeles and São Paulo, in partnership with Fernando Siqueira.

As a filmmaker, Fernando wrote, directed, and produced Abe (2019), starring Noah Schnapp (Stranger Things), Seu Jorge (City of God), and Mark Margolis (Breaking Bad). The film premiered at Sundance, screened at 27 festivals worldwide, and won multiple awards. His latest work, Necklace (2024), an experimental musical film exploring trauma and mental health, was selected for Brazil’s top film festivals, including the Rio Film Festival and the São Paulo International Film Festival. He also directed Quebrando Mitos (2022), a documentary exploring hypermasculinity in Brazilian politics. The film, available on Globoplay, was praised by acclaimed filmmaker Jorge Furtado, who considered it one of the most important Brazilian films in recent years.

Beyond filmmaking, Fernando is at the forefront of high-impact innovation. In collaboration with NASA, he co-created This is a Test (2023), a short film that set a deep-space communication record, transmitted via laser from Mars to Earth. He also composed the soundtrack alongside Grammy-winning producer Fernando Garibay (Born This Way – Lady Gaga).

As an entrepreneur, Fernando has founded five startups, achieving four successful exits, including Breaking the Taboo, a human rights media platform with over 21 million followers. His work has been featured in Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The Wall Street Journal, and other major media outlets.

Fernando is also deeply committed to leadership, artificial intelligence, and racial equity. As part of the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders program, he participated in Learning Journeys focused on leadership at Harvard, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship at Stanford, and racial equity at the University of Virginia.

His upcoming projects include a double album and a performance at SXSW 2025, further merging music, film, and immersive storytelling.
