Former Professor of European Law at various academic institutions (Sapienza University of Rome, Bocconi University of Milan, College of Europe Bruges, LUISS University of Rome). Formerly, with the European Commission, including 2002-05, Deputy Secretary-General of the European Commission; 2005-06, Director-General, Bureau of the European Policy Advisors. 2006-11, Judge and President of Chamber, General Court of the European Union. November 2011 – February 2014, Minister for European Affairs. 2014-18, Director, School of Law, LUISS University. Since May 2018, Italy’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
