Enrico Nano

Global Shaper, Rome Hub

Enrico is the Head of Research at Horizon Group, a boutique consulting firm based in Geneva specializing in applied economic research. Previously he was an Economist at the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN (FAO), where he worked together with governments to reduce food insecurity, increase agricultural productivity, foster rural transformation as well as on the trade and market dimensions of agriculture.

Trained in impact evaluation, he holds a PhD in development economics from the Geneva Graduate Institute (IHEID). His research focuses on education and labor economics, assessing how different policies can impact people's life through human capital accumulation, particularly in developing countries.

Enrico is passionate about advising governments and organizations on competitiveness, trade, food security, education, future of work and other development issues.

He has also worked as a Research Economist at the WTO, as a consultant for the OECD, the ILO and private sector consulting firms, as a research assistant at the IHEID's Center for Finance and Development and at the Brussels think-tank Bruegel, as well as at the European Commission and at UniCredit Bank in Moscow.

Former Curator of the Global Shapers Rome Hub and Member of the Davos Lab taskforce, Enrico holds two Masters in Economics from the Collegio Carlo Alberto and the University of Turin. His master thesis in health economics focused on the socioeconomic determinants of health outcomes. He is fluent in Italian and English and has a working knowledge of French and Spanish. He loves to travel, play all sorts of sports and drink good beers.
