Eleni Myrivili

Senior Adviser, UN-Habitat and Arsht-Rock Foundation, Atlantic Council

Dr. Eleni "Lenio" Myrivili is the Global Chief Heat Officer at UN-Habitat and the Atlantic Council’s Arsht-Rock Resilience Center. She is dedicated to fostering heat resilience in cities worldwide. Myrivili serves as senior advisor and senior fellow at the Arsht-Rock Resilience Center and is an IUR Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was honored with the 2023 Lawrence C. Nussdorf Urban Leadership Prize.

She is also a member of the EU Mission Board for Adaptation at the European Commission and serves on the Board for the WEF Global Risks Report. Additionally, she is part of WEF's Global Future Council for the Future Economics of Equitable Transition.

Myrivili was elected to the Athens city government from 2014 to 2019 and was appointed Deputy Mayor for Urban Nature, Urban Resilience, and Climate Adaptation. Over the past decade, she has held roles as Chief Heat Officer and Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Athens, collaborated as a heat expert with the World Bank, and co-chaired the Steering Committee of the Resilient Cities Network. Her efforts in advancing heat resilience have established Athens as a leader in international urban climate adaptation responses.

Eleni Myrivili is a recognized authority in Heat Resilience and was invited to deliver a TED talk in March 2022. She is frequently featured in prominent international media outlets, including The New York Times, and was named "The trailblazer" on Politico's 28 list of the most influential Europeans for 2022. She held a tenured position at the University of the Aegean and holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Columbia University.
