Eleanor Joseph

Alumni, Global Shapers Community

Eleanor Joseph is the Director of Strategy and Business Development at Via Transportation, Inc. She leads the Company's work focused on new transportation verticals: paratransit, pupil transportation, integrated mobility solutions, etc. Joseph is an advocate for public-private partnerships' role in defining the future of public transportation; she works with municipalities, transit agencies, and school districts, etc., to solve the present day mobility challenges facing millions of Americans.

Prior to Via, Joseph founded, grew, and sold a two-product startup that helped vendors in emerging markets promote themselves digitally. In addition to working in the private sector, Joseph has served in the public and non-profit sectors, advising Mayor Marty Walsh on Boston’s economic development and sharing economy policies, and building health systems in east Africa on behalf of the Clinton Health Access Initiative.

Joseph earned her MBA and Masters in public policy from Harvard University. Joseph earned her Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College, where she was a double Honors major in economics and history. Joseph is a former Global Shaper and serves on the Board of Managers of her undergraduate alma mater, Swarthmore.

For fun, Joseph enjoys spending time outside — walking and hiking, especially with her beloved dog, Huckleberry (Huck) — reading, socializing with friends and family, and adventuring with her partner, Andrew. Joseph particularly loves traveling to places she's never been before and perusing small / boutique art galleries.
