Architect, author, researcher, and educator. Founder, Architecture 2030, a non-partisan, non-profit, think tank developing real-world solutions for 21st century problems. 2006, developed and issued The 2030 Challenge, a measured and achievable strategy to dramatically reduce the global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of the built environment. 2007 and 2011, he issued subsequent 2030 Challenges for planning and products. 2013, introduced the 2030 Palette, a revolutionary new platform that puts the principles behind low-carbon and resilient built environments at the fingertips of architects, planners, and designers worldwide. Has taught at several universities, including the University of New Mexico, University of Oregon, UCLA, and the University of Colorado, Denver. Senior Fellow, Design Futures Council; Honorary Fellow, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Speaks nationally and internationally on the subject of architecture, planning, design, energy, economics, and climatic changes. Recipient of numerous awards and honours.
