Since 1992, with Harvard University; concurrently, Director, Taubman Center for State and Local Government, and Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston; studies economics of cities; particularly interested in role that geographic proximity can play in creating knowledge and innovation. Widely published author on urban issues, including growth of cities, segregation, crime and housing markets.
