Debora Nascimento Mateus

Global Shaper, Rio de Janeiro Hub

As a trustee of WEF - Global Shapers Rio de Janeiro, a TETO/RJ ambassador and a UN Jr delegate, I have navigated spaces where dialog turns into action, forging tangible solutions to urgent challenges. As a guest at UNFCC COP 28 and currently as a business development executive at LCOY Brasil, I have witnessed first-hand my unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovation.

My journey is a symphony of achievements that resonate with marginalized communities and fragile ecosystems. As a member of the 1t. #regenerationrestoration Youth hub, C40 Youth Hub and a collaborator with Instituto Urca, I have immersed myself in projects such as: Água!Nabara, PodCast Mulheres de Frente para a Baía, Malai Family in East Timor, Ondas Cariocas e Ondas do Saneamento. Conducting Brazil's only official Climate Clock Word action in Partnership with Instituto Talanoa, UN Jr. 21 and Forbes BLK - Under 30, demonstrating how local action reverberates globally.

My involvement as co-writer of the book "Maria e o Segredo da Poupança Brasil", with its emphasis on accessibility for children with special needs, hearing and visual impairments and a racial approach; combined with my role as a teacher of string instruments and climate education at the NGO Harmonicanto, reflects my commitment to inclusive and community-based financial education. As the creator of the workbook for the Teodoro project, which trains fishermen from Colony Z-13, I seek to empower communities seen on the margins of society. Being a combination of them on the rise.

Shapers Project's RJ: IBGSHAPER, Comunidade 2.0, Psel unified. The RJ Hub Spotlight at Davos 2024 - with the presence of shaper João Rocha, the agroecology and food security project in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro is not just an initiative, but a beacon of hope for communities on the margins of the system. My work with the homeless NGO Só Vamos is a constant reminder of the transformative power of empathy and solidarity.

As a member of Eletrobrás' first Trainee and Innovation class, Commercial director of Sunode Solar, one of JUV's pioneering drone piloting students, I am at the forefront of technology and sustainability. My fundamental principles, rooted in valuing diversity and respect for the environment, guide my vision for a more inclusive and sustainable future. And Twin City Owerri Hub.

Recognition, such as the honorary motion for young leadership in Rio de Janeiro in 2023, is an incentive for the future. With a degree in Polymer and Materials Engineering and currently a master's student at IME, my research into infrastructure materials for energy storage reinforced with natural fibers of tropical origin is a promise of excellence in the Energy Transition towards a Sustainable Circular Bioeconomy.
