Extensive experience in conducting comparative in-depth research of rapid-innovation-based industries and their globalization. Former: Visiting Scholar, Project on Regions of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Stanford University; Visiting Fellow, Bruegel Institute for International Economics, Brussels; founder and CEO of a small software company. With MIT: Research Affiliate, Industrial Performance Center; Senior Researcher, Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Program (STIP); Academic Director, Technology Cluster Initiative; Director, Globalization, Innovation, and Development, Center for International Strategy, Technology and Policy (CISTP). Advisor on science technology and innovation policies for multinational corporations, international organizations. Leads several policy projects aiming to maximize the job creation benefits of innovation in North and Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Fellow: Collegio Carlo Alberto; University of Turin, Italy. Author of: Innovation and the State: Political Choice and Strategies for Growth in Israel, Taiwan, and Ireland. Co-Author of The Run of the Red Queen: Government, Innovation, Globalization, and Economic Growth in China. Co-Editor, Can Wealthy Nations Stay Rich? (forthcoming). Recipient of awards and honours.
