Clemens Kielhauser

Postdoctoral Researcher; Lecturer, Infrastructure Management, ETH Zurich

Clemens Kielhauser received his Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria, in November 2011. He wrote his diploma thesis (topic: Implementation of a waste management knowledge base using the example of the implementation of the Landfill Ordinance) at the Institute for Water Quality, Resource and Waste Management, (IWR), Research Center of Waste and Resource Management, Vienna University of Technology. This diploma thesis was awarded the Hans Roth Saubermacher Environmental Award. During his studies, Clemens Kielhauser gained his first professional experience in the field of project management as an intern and as an employee of the technical management of a landfill rehabilitation project of the Rohrer Group.


Since March 2012 Clemens Kielhauser has been working as a research assistant at the Infrastructure Management Group (IMG) of the Institute of Construction and Infrastructure Management (IBI) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). Between December 2012 and February 2018 he worked as a doctoral student on the topic of interconnected infrastructure networks in urban areas.


Since the completion of his dissertation, he has continued to work at IBI as a PostDoc and is dedicated to the topics of optimization of measures for infrastructure networks, GIS-based prioritization of maintenance measures and automation-supported inspection of infrastructure structures, including with UAVs.
