Co-Founder, Pravah and ComMutiny - The Youth Collective

Ashraf has played a key role in shaping the youth work field over two decades as co founder of Pravah and ComMutiny - The Youth Collective. She is a passionate advocate of inside-out youth leadership and committed to strengthening youth-centric development and societal well-being based on values of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity. Towards this aim she is currently part of co-creating vartaLeap Coalition, a cross-sectoral community with 180 leading organisations, policymakers and key stakeholders who intend to scale the mission ‘Every youth a Jagrik, Every space nurturingJagriks’ (Jagrik means a self-awakened, active citizen) while keeping alive its soul.
The course will equip students of development management with competencies to  explore key elements of strategic people management including organisation development, performance management and talent acquisition and development for social purpose organisations. It introduces the Tatva Framework and ways of understanding how culture is formed and shaped using the Vyaktitva culture transformation model that has been successfully applied in leading development and private sector organisations in India. Using their shared lived experience at ISDM and also their own experiences of other organisations that they have come from or know about including case studies of leading Indian organisations to name a few, as well as get introduced some frameworks through curated readings across the different thematics. Students will engage in reflecting on classical and contemporary theories, framework and practices in the areas of performance management, recruitment, organisation structure and policies and learning and development. Through practical exercises, personal inventories and group work they will apply learning to analyse and design key processes and build capacities as development management professionals to unleash the best potential of people in development organisations for personal, organisational, social and systemic wellbeing and effectiveness.
