Ashleighne Antao

Alumni, Global Shapers Community

Ashleighne’s professional background lies in journalism, communications, PR and marketing, with a BA in Music Journalism & Broadcasting. She is currently exploring entrepreneurship with her business, Typebar Digital, which focuses on digital communications; specifically social media management, content development and social media training for in-house marketing teams.

Ash has previously worked in event management and public relations, as a Social Media Community Manager developing online communities, and as a print journalist for a national newspaper in her early 20s. Through her work, Ash has successfully led teams to deliver environmental initiatives and managed projects to engage with youth and local communities in Seychelles.

She is a firm supporter of collaborating with others to deliver impactful projects that better serve and improve communities, using technology to help us connect and work virtually, and implementing sustainability measures within the way we operate, to protect our environment.

Ash volunteered with the Aldabra Clean Up Project (ACUP), a collaboration between the Seychelles Islands Foundation and Oxford University, alongside 11 others to conduct intensive beach cleans on the Aldabra Atoll during a 5 week expedition in February & March 2019.

As a member of ACUP, she also took on a social media communications role, pre- and post-expedition, as well as participating in extensive fundraising and awareness raising of the global plastic pollution problem. The expedition removed 25 tonnes of marine debris from the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ash joined Global Shapers in May 2019 and became Social Secretary shortly thereafter. She also took on a supporting role in communications, designing and delivering social media content for the Hub. Ashleighne served as the Victoria Hub’s Curator for 2020/21 and has been the Community Champion for the Indian Ocean Islands region since 2023/24.
