Anna Schrimpf

Director, Innovation, J-PAL Global, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)

Over the past decade, I've focused my career on driving evidence-based innovation and building effective institutions to address global challenges – especially in social innovation, education, and global development. My work is grounded in translating scientific research into scalable solutions and supporting organizations and governments to use data and evidence to drive social impact.

From 2016 to 2024, I served in leadership roles at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), a global research and policy organization headquartered at MIT. At J-PAL, I worked closely with Nobel Laureates Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee, shaping and launching initiatives designed to improve millions of lives worldwide. My responsibilities included building and scaling new teams, fundraising, developing strategic partnerships with governments and organizations globally, and helping to launch and grow new organizations and innovation-driven units within government institutions. J-PAL's work has impacted more than 600 million people globally.

I thrive at the interface between rigorous evidence, scalable technology, and human-centered design. Currently, I advise organizations on using technology and evidence to achieve social impact, and starting to explore the next chapter of my career.
