Degree in Economic and Social Studies, Swansea University; Master's in Politics of the World Economy, London School of Economics. 1990-93, Policy Adviser, ActionAid; 1993-97, International Head, Political Unit, Greenpeace, Amsterdam, then Senior Adviser, Greenpeace, Germany. 1998-02, Executive Director, ActionAid Brazil, working to contribute in the eradication of poverty and inequality through community development projects, as well as public policy advocacy and campaigning at both national and international levels. 2000-03, Board Chair, Greenpeace Brazil. 2003, Representative, Ford Foundation in Brazil; oversaw the Foundation's work in the areas of human rights, sustainable development, racial and ethical discrimination, sexuality and reproductive health, media democratization and land rights; also responsible for coordinating the regional Latin America funding on Economics and Globalization, the IBSA initiative and the Int'l Initiative on Intellectual Property Rights.
