Alice Usanase is a responsible executive with over 15 years of experience mobilizing sustainable finance to drive equitable economic growth, energy transitions, and infrastructure development in frontier and emerging markets. At the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), she played a pivotal role in doubling the institution’s member states and securing over $1 billion in new capital injection within five years. Her leadership in diversifying AFC’s shareholder base and designing innovative financing structures has positioned her as a trailblazer in advancing ESG-aligned investments and impactful development strategies.

Usanase is a co-author of Infrastructure Financing in Sub-Saharan Africa – Best Practices From Ten Years in the Field (in collaboration with BCG and AFC), a publication that highlights innovative approaches to financing critical infrastructure projects with a focus on energy access, regional integration, and sustainability. Her expertise bridges sovereigns, institutional investors, and development finance institutions (DFIs), leveraging local market knowledge to deliver tailored solutions that align global capital with local development priorities.

Beyond her professional achievements, Usanase co-founded We*Care, a Rwandan initiative supporting vulnerable children through educational opportunities and family reunification.
