Alejo is the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer for Emerging Markets Americas at UBS Global Wealth Management, based in New York. In this role, Alejo leads a team of analysts focused on emerging economies, guiding the allocation of billions in assets under management. He also contributes to the strategic direction of the business as a member of several management forums at UBS. In addition to his work at UBS, Alejo is a professor at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, where he teaches about capital markets in developing economies. Beyond his professional and academic roles, Alejo engages in shaping policy debates on emerging markets through his involvement with leading global think tanks. He has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, a Millennium Leadership Fellow by the Atlantic Council, and is a member of the Bretton Woods Committee. Alejo is a frequent guest on Bloomberg Television, CNBC, and CNN, and his insights appear regularly in publications such as the Financial Times, Bloomberg, Reuters, and the Wall Street Journal. He holds a PhD in Economics from Columbia University, and degrees in Economics and Finance from Tilburg University and Universidad del CEMA.
