Ms. Aisha Jagirani is currently working as the Director General of the Department of External Relations and Legal Affairs at the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO). She is responsible for international cooperation of the organization, Member States relations, membership expansion and representation of APSCO at international level, and deals with the space law and policy, and legal matters of the organization.
She has also been selected as the Mentor for UN Space4Women Network, since 2021, which is a United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) program that facilitates access to the benefits of space exploration, science and technology, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, and STEM careers for women. As a mentor she supports, guides and mentors the young girls who aspires for space education and professions. Besides She was selected as the Karman Fellow under Karman Fellowship for 2024.
Ms. Aisha has 20 years of experience in the fields of international cooperation in space, Space Education & Awareness and Space Law & Policy. Before joining APSCO she was working with the Government of Pakistan, at the National Space Agency, in the capacity of General Manager (International Cooperation and Space Law). She was also the project in charge for Space Education and Awareness Program in Pakistan from 2011 to 2014. She was also involved and part of the working group on drafting of the National Space Policy of Pakistan.
She has represented Pakistan and APSCO at various international forums, including UN Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. She also has presented various papers, lectures and presentations at renowned international conferences and institutions. She holds a master’s degree in public administration, degree of Master in Space Law and Policy, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Diplomacy and International Affairs.
