SEED certification, through the design of sustainable neighbourhoods, proposes a new and sustainable model of urban living, significantly reducing our ecological footprint while offering a good quality of life to users and an adequate economic return to investors. This is achieved through responsible financing models, integration of biodiversity in the urban environment, systematic activation of neighbourhood life, monitoring of sustainability performance and networking of innovations and achievements. SEED methodology supports the stakeholders to target performances above the legal standard and include all parameters of sustainability. The certification applies to the scale of neighbourhoods instead of buildings to maximise the impact also on the exterior spaces and social life. In Switzerland, currently three pilot projects are in progress or delivered and ten other projects have applied for the certification projects and already submitted the prerequisites for analysis.
