Piyush Tewari founded SaveLife Foundation in 2008, following the death of his cousin in a road accident, with the aim of improving road safety emergency care across India. SaveLife Foundation started by training police personnel in basic trauma and life support skills. SaveLife Foundation’s operations include advocacy for stronger road safety and emergency care laws and an accident prevention training programme for high-risk commercial drivers. Based in New Delhi, SaveLife Foundation has operations in over 10 states and union territories across India and has impacted policy to bring permanent change in road safety and emergency care in India.
