Nidan

Nidan, a not-for-profit organization established in 1996, focuses on informal workers in work such as street vending, waste pick-up, home-based handicrafts and agriculture, collectivizing them into for-profit entities such as cooperatives and companies. It advocates for better laws and policies for informal workers and runs legal clinics to challenge harassment. It provides youth with skill development and places them in mainstream jobs, and provides children of informal workers with quality schooling. Nidan and its offshoots reach out to 7 million families across India.
