The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), located in Phnom Penh, is the central bank of Cambodia. Its mission is to determine and direct the monetary policy aimed at maintaining price stability in order to facilitate economic development. The NBC conducts this in consultation with the government and considering the kingdom's economic and financial policy framework. The NBC is the sole issuer of the Khmer riel. It also regulates banks in Cambodia, conducts regular economic and monetary analysis, oversees the nation's payment systems, establishes the balance of payments, and participates in the management of external debt claims.
