Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST)

Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is a government-funded multidisciplinary research institute established in 1966 and based in Seoul, South Korea. As the country’s first comprehensive science and technology institute, KIST has played a pivotal role in advancing Korea’s industrial and innovation capacity. It conducts foundational and applied research across fields including quantum and semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, energy, materials, and biomedical science. KIST fosters collaboration among academia, industry and government, promotes technology transfer, and supports national priorities through interdisciplinary R&D and specialised graduate training programmes.
