Kidame Mart is an Ethiopian for-profit social-enterprise established in February 2017 in the business of distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) to rural Ethiopia where traditional markets do not reach (last mile distribution). It recruits women entrepreneurs to sell products door-to-door (4 days per week) and in the local open market (2 days per week). It aims to create regular affordable access to quality high-impact products for communities in rural Ethiopia (approx. 70% of the population) and to provide income-generating opportunities for rural women. Its founding partner is Unilever Ethiopia, which provided initial grant funds to implement and scale the project.
