Helmholtz Association

Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres is Germany’s largest scientific organisation, founded in 1995 and comprising 18 legally independent research centres. Headquartered in Bonn and Berlin, it conducts long-term, interdisciplinary research addressing major societal, scientific and industrial challenges. Its activities span six research fields: energy; earth and environment; health; information; aeronautics, space and transport; and structure of matter. Operating large-scale research infrastructure and employing over 40,000 staff, Helmholtz fosters collaboration across disciplines and institutions to advance scientific understanding and technological innovation in areas vital to sustainable development and global progress.
