Fairtrasa addresses the daunting food security challenge through the empowerment of small-scale farmers, increased food production and the reduction of food waste. Founded in 2005, Fairtrasa created a tailored 3-tier development model that lifts small-scale farmers out of poverty and provides them with direct access to local and international markets in an integrated social business model. As a fair trade pioneer with 15 offices in 12 countries, Fairtrasa is implementing a suite of technologies (agricultural technology and financial technology) to systemically grow its unique development model to reach 1 million farmers in the next 5 years.
