The Eastern African Farmers Federation (EAFF), formed in 2001, is a non-political, non-profit and democratic organization whose role is to voice the concerns and interests of farmers of the region to enhance their socio-economic status and regional cohesiveness. Its establishment was championed by national farmers' organizations from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo and membership was subsequently extended to Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia and South Sudan. Its membership is now composed of 22 farmer organizations serving about 20 million farmers.
