From electric scooters and autonomous trucks to e-gates and delivery drones, the mobility sector has seen tremendous innovation, change and disruption in recent years, increasing the need to ensure our mobility future is safe and secure, clean and sustainable, and inclusive and efficient. The Global Future Council on Urban Mobility Transitions will seek to identify the points of innovation or cultural transformation on the brink of affecting the movement of people and goods. The council will support the work of the Forum’s Platform on Shaping the Future of Mobility by:
– Examining the intersection of cities and mobility across all regions through the lens of issues such as congestion, distribution networks and equity
– Exploring the implications of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies
– Seeking a more sustainable future in consideration of fuel consumption, congestion, electrification and energy efficiency
– Assessing the impact of mobility on society by exploring how it affects communities, particularly communities historically marginalized by transport planning
