The purpose of the Global Future Council on Media, Entertainment and Sport is to advance a positive future for the industry, focusing on creating an economically sustainable, truly inclusive and thriving media ecosystem. Through the lenses of technology and social justice, this is fulfilled by developing recommendations, implementing pilots, engaging the public and driving adoption of new business models throughout the media ecosystem, specifically in the following areas:
– Content creation: How evolving ecosystems present risks and opportunities, as well as acknowledgement and compensation for creators.
– Monetization: Revenue diversification opportunities through varying monetization strategies considering data privacy implications, evolution of business models and new investments throughout the ecosystem in gaming, sports, EdTech, live events and streaming.
– Advertising: Content safety standards/policies across platforms, innovation in advertising, financial viability of creators and publishers, and transparency in the media value chain.
– Distribution and Consumption: Analyse the impact of the shift towards direct-to-consumer channels, understand drivers of new value creation and consumption behaviours.
