Mirek Dusek

Mr. Mirek Dusek is the World Economic Forum’s Deputy Head of Geopolitical and Regional Affairs. He is also the Head of Europe, Eurasia, the Middle East and North Africa and has been a Member of the Executive Committee since 2013. As the Deputy of the Forum's President for Geopolitical and Regional Affairs, Mirek oversees diplomatic initiatives, humanitarian affairs, regional strategies and government engagement with the Forum's Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.In his capacity as the Head of Europe, Eurasia and the Middle East, he leads the Forum's strategy and manages the Forum's overall engagement with top business, government and civil society leaders across these regions. Mirek joined the Forum in 2007 as a Global Leadership Fellow. Prior to joining the Forum, Mirek worked on public diplomacy at the US Embassy in Baghdad, where he was responsible for relations with Iraqi media and for a number of education and cultural projects. He was also the Director of the American Centre at the US Embassy in Prague, in charge of public information programmes from 2005 to 2007.Mirek has an MA in International Studies from the University of Reading in the UK and a BA in Political Science from the Charles University in Prague. He also studied at the Kuwait University. He speaks Arabic fluently and is a native Czech speaker.
