Anna Tunkel is founder and CEO of Sustainable Impact LLC – a global advisory firm that partners with leaders of Fortune 500 companies, global foundations and international organizations on strategies and programs that bridge between business and societal impact.
Mrs. Tunkel is a seasoned global public affairs and strategic communications leader with over two decades of experience across global public affairs, sustainability and strategic communications. She brings systems thinking and extensive stakeholder engagement experience spanning multiple industries, geographies and sectors. She has sectoral expertise across professional services, supply chain & logistics, technology, healthcare, retail, financial services, publishing and telecom sectors and her long-standing clients included high-net-worth individuals, IKEA, The Rockefeller Foundation, World Bank, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Meta, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Malala Yousafzai, among many others. She has special expertise in developing and managing diverse, innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships and a long-standing track record in informing and shaping the global agenda through established international fora and global processes including the G20, COPs, UN General Assembly, as well as up-and-coming influential platforms from the Global South and globe-spanning technology platforms and convenings.
Over the course of her career, Mrs. Tunkel held external affairs leadership positions in house in the logistics & supply chain sector and in professional services. She spent over a decade at APCO, one of world’s largest majority-women owned public affairs advisory firms, where she was a member of the senior management team, built and led a global practice and teams across more than a dozen markets, including a two-year stint in China, and was chief of staff to the founder and CEO of the group post management buy-out of the firm, contributing to its rapid growth. She started her career at the Division of External Relations at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva.
Mrs. Tunkel has a Master of Science with academic distinction from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, BA in Political Science, Mandarin & East Asian Studies from Tel Aviv University and executive leadership certificates from Singularity and Columbia Universities. She has served on four consecutive B-20 Taskforces during KSA, Italy, Indonesia and India’s G20 Presidencies, spanning energy, climate sustainability, ESG in business and transparency, including Brazil’s current B20 Policy Taskforce on Energy Transition & Climate Change and Action Council on Women, Diversity and Inclusion. She is an Advisory Board member of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Board Director of Seeds of Peace, a global nonprofit focused on youth leadership development and transforming legacies of conflict. Fluent in five languages, she is a frequent writer and speaker on innovative public-private partnerships and inclusive globalization.
