You Can Build This Low-Cost Air Pollution Monitor Yourself

To build this air pollution monitor, you only need a 3D printer, inexpensive components, and basic coding skills. The detector is called Flatburn and was designed by scientists at MIT. Their goal is for anyone to be able to monitor local air pollution levels. The data could then be used to help shape local policy-making, resulting in cleaner air for everyone. The researchers tested these air pollution monitors in cities around the world and calibrated the results against state-of-the-art sensors to ensure Flatburn is accurate and reliable.
