Middle East's First-Ever Virtual Hospital Opens In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has opened the Middle East's first-ever virtual hospital. It means patients don’t have to travel across the country to get the help they need. Instead, they visit their local hospital, where they attend live video consultations with specialist physicians. SEHA Virtual Hospital (SVH) connects 130 hospitals around Saudi Arabia, and it’s the largest of its kind in the world. SVH provides emergency and critical consultations and 8 specialized clinics that cover heart, kidney, and blood diseases, as well as diabetes, psychiatry, genetic diseases, and medical rehabilitation. This virtual hospital also offers remote, 24-hour monitoring via the Internet of Things (IoT) devices SEHA Virtual Hospital has the capacity to treat more than 400,000 patients a year.
