These Are the Deepest Fish Ever Filmed

They’re juvenile snailfish, 8,336 metres beneath the surface. Beating the previous record for the deepest fish on camera by 158 metres. They were filmed in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench, in the ocean south of Japan by scientists from the University of Western Australia and the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. Their research is part of a 10-year study on the world’s deepest fish. They also captured 2 snailfish at a depth of 8,022 metres making them the deepest fish ever caught.
