We all know about the dangers posed by storms, heatwaves and wildfires, but climate change causes daily health impacts, too. Chronic climate stressors can undermine the foundations of good health - clean air, safe water and temperatures, sufficient food and secure shelter. Without action, by threatening these pillars of human life, global warming could result in millions of excess deaths by 2050, and $1.5 trillion in economic productivity losses from certain climate-health illnesses. The World Economic Forum has published a new insight report, Building Economic Resilience to the Health Impacts of Climate Change, which proposes 8 steps that companies can take to shore up the health of their staff.
