Tetsuro Fukunaga

Director-General, International Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan

Background in trade and energy, in addition to industrial policy, developed during more than 25 years’ work experience for the Japanese Government. Former: Director, APEC Office, METI, hosted APEC Yokohama in 2010; Counsellor, National Policy Unit, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Japan, to plan new trade initiative like TPP as well as reform energy policy; Executive Director, Brussels office, Japan Machinery Center for Trade and Investment representing about 250 Japanese machine manufacturers and trading companies. Planning and coordinating Japanese policies on its industrial globalization; also taking charge of the international dimension of Japan’s digital policy as Director-General for International Cyber Economy Policy, METI; also planning Japan’s new trade and investment strategies.
