Managing Director, Oxygen Africa (Private) Limited Zimbabwe

Simbarashe is 34 years old and the Founder and Managing Director of Oxygen Africa, a Zimbabwean renewable energy development company focused on commercial and industrial rooftop solar photovoltaic projects.

Simba is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Entrepreneurship for the 2018 – 2019 and the Shared Value Africa Initiative’s Africa Council of 8. Simba is also part of the expert working group of the Enterprise Africa Network a project by the European Union & African Union to create a business platform to connect women and young entrepreneurs across the continent modelled on the Europe Enterprise Network.

In 2018 Simba has been named by Forbes Magazine as one of Africa’s 30 most promising young entrepreneurs as well as in 2016 he was also named one of Africa’s 30 most promising and inspirational young entrepreneurs in Africa by Forbes Magazine. Simba has also been recognised by the Africa Youth Awards as one of 100 most Influential Young Africans of the year. Afk Insider magazine named him among 12 Most Promising African Entrepreneurs of 2016 whilst in 2017 Africa.com named him among 40 Africans Under 40 – Making It In Africa. Africa Innovation Summit listed Simba’s project as one of the Top 50 Innovations in Africa for 2018. In October of 2018 the Institut Choiseul of France named Simba as one of Africa’s 200 economic leaders of tomorrow. The Zimbabwe chapter of the Junior Chamber International named Simba as one of the 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Zimbabwe.

Simba was also named in the South Africa's Destiny Man Power of 40 2018 Report which chronicles the most dynamic young men in the subcontinent and the young independents SADC top 100 trailblazers for 2018.

Most Influential People of African Descent under 40 (MIPAD 100), a global civil society initiative whose efforts are in recognition of the UN-backed International Decade for People of African Descent, named Simba among its 2017 honourees for business and entrepreneurship inside Africa. Oxygen has received support from the Ministry of Energy & Power Development, National Project Status from The Ministry of Finance & Economic Development and a Climate Action Endorsement from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate for driving and championing the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Climate Action (13), Affordable & Clean Energy (7), Decent Work & Economic Growth, Sustainable Cities & Communities (11) and Responsible Consumption & Production (12).

Oxygen has also received a letter of recognition from the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat’s Momentum for Change Initiative. Momentum for Change is an initiative spearheaded by the UN Climate Change secretariat to shine a light on the enormous groundswell of activities underway across the globe that are moving the world toward a highly resilient, low-carbon future. Momentum for Change recognizes innovative and transformative solutions that address both climate change and wider economic, social and environmental challenges.
