Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson has served as Chief Information Officer at the Global Fund since 2018. He leads its digital approach and the design, development and delivery of high performance technology across the organization. Before joining the Global Fund, Johnson served as the Vice President of Business Technology at the Merck Group. In this role, he directed teams responsible for IT shared services, new digital technology platforms, application management and business partnering functions, IT security and governance, vendor management and IT sourcing. He also worked with the World Health Organization for five years as the IT leader for the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean based in Cairo, and 18 years at the US-based pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., Inc. in a variety of global technology leadership roles. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science at the New York Institute of Technology, and a Master of Business Administration at Columbia University in New York.
