As Chairman of the Board of Directors at Vattenfall, a leading European energy company, Mats plays a pivotal role in shaping the future energy ecosystem and advancing society through climate-smart solutions. As the former Director General of the GSMA, the global mobile industry association, Mats has been a driving force behind the global deployment of 5G and IoT, and a founding member of the Open Gateway initiative designed to open mobile networks and unlock new market opportunities for industries and mobile operators. Mats has also played a key role in closing the mobile internet usage gap, and as co-founder of the United Nations EQUALS Global Partnership, has been a passionate advocate for gender equality in technology. Mats currently also serves as Chairman of the Board for Business Sweden and advisor to the GSMA Board. He is also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering.
