An entrepreneur, academic, and a leader in sustainability, climate change, and social development. As the President and CEO of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA), she directs an organization committed to accelerating climate action by growing the green economy through initiatives in the circular economy, carbon solutions, and climate adaptation.
In 2023, Sheikha Shamma was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, underscoring her dedication to creating holistic and impactful environmental solutions. UICCA, under her leadership, is an independent climate action organization, designed to enable collaboration, cooperation, and innovation across various sectors.
Additionally, Sheikha Shamma chairs Alliances for Global Sustainability (AGS), an enterprise providing sustainability consultancy services with an investment vertical focused on sustainability solutions. Under AGS’s banner, she has founded an energy and water savings company Reset MENA, significantly reducing energy and water usage in existing and new developments. She is also the co-founder of Aurora50, which aims to achieve gender balance in UAE corporate boardrooms and operates as a DEI impact agency.
Her extensive involvement in high-level councils and advisory boards highlights her role in shaping global sustainability and climate policies, integrating diverse stakeholders to advance impactful and scalable solutions to pressing environmental challenges. She is a member of the Advisory Boards at Yale's Center for Environmental Law and Policy.
Her academic achievements include an MSt in Sustainability Leadership and an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Cambridge. Sheikha Shamma promotes sustainable practices worldwide and drives initiatives that foster a more environmentally responsible global community.
