David Abney, who began his career as a part-time package loader in college, serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for UPS. Previously he served as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing logistics, sustainability, engineering and all facets of the UPS transportation network that serves more than 220 countries and territories. David is a Trustee of the UPS and Annie E. Casey Foundations, Chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and member of the World Affairs Council and Business Roundtable. He also serves as a board member for Macy's, Inc. and Catalyst, working to accelerate and advance women, including women of color, into senior leadership and board positions. In 2019, David was awarded the Deming Cup of Operational Excellence from Columbia University and in 2018 was inducted into the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans. David holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Delta State University.
